Going Vegan in January...

Veganuary is the world's largest vegan movement, inspiring people to try vegan for January and throughout the rest of the year. More and more consumers are either taking the decision to eat an entirely plant based diet or alternatively making a conscious effort to eat less meat each week. A statistic from MCA Insights states; “The total number of main dishes flagged as vegetarian on menus has increased 25.6% to 324, year-on-year. The total number of main dishes flagged as vegan on menus has increased 54.8% to 178. Operators from all channels have embraced the plant-based trend and are continuing to develop new dishes to satisfy vegan/vegetarians and flexitarians” (MCA HIM | MENU & FOOD TRENDS REPORT © 2019).

As the festive food and drink hangover kicks in and promises are made for a healthier January and year ahead, more and more people are committing to making a lifestyle change which requires a lot more willpower than dusting off your old running shoes. Record numbers have signed up to take part in Veganuary year on year, and the lifestyle has continued to rise throughout the UK.

At JB Foods, we are continually seeking out new vegan products and alternatives for our customers to make providing for vegan customers easy but also not boring. MCA Insights reveals that “Vegetable protein in main dishes up 44% year-on-year.
