Berlinkys is an exciting new live entertainment venue that opened in October last year. We had the delight of talking to head chef Andy all about how this venue blend food and entertainment.

Can you tell us a little about Berlinkys?

Berlinkys is a new live entertainment venue first and foremost, with live acts 7 nights a week. There’s no one else in town that’s the same. We’re a very large venue, every Friday and Saturday night we have circus performers, burlesque dancers, pole dancers, you name it. But its free entry, there are no ticketed events, we don’t charge for tickets ever.

How does having live performers affect how you create your menu and serve food?

We’re still working on that, we only opened in October. I think it’s hard, because there are people in partying and people in eating, so it’s hard to find a mix where it works well together, we are getting there. We try to do a bit of everything because we do cater to everybody. There might be an 18th birthday in but then there might be a 60th, and there might be a hen do party. Everybody comes in so we need to cater to everybody.

What do you think attracts such a broad customer base? It’s just an exciting new venue, everybody wants to try it. We don’t alienate anyone. You go in some venues and you think this is not for me, it’s a young crowd or this is an older person venue. It brings fresh energy to the place all the time.

What is the most popular night and brings the most buzz?

It changes, Thursday is my favourite because its band karaoke, so its karaoke but with a live band. Everyone goes up and gives it a bash, some are really good, some are not so good, but it’s still enjoyable.
