JB Foods Supports 'World's Biggest Sleep Out'

JB Foods was pleased to support Social Bite's Sleep in the Park by donating essential catering supplies and serving hot drinks throughout the night.

JB Foods were proud to volunteer as the official catering partner for Social Bite’s Sleep in the Park, one of Scotland’s biggest fundraising events to help tackle homelessness.  We helped at Edinburgh and Glasgow’s Sleep in the Park last month, supplying the fundraising events with essential catering supplies, including tea, coffee and hot chocolate.  With donations from Caterforce of its own-label Chefs’ Selections products, we were able to provide thousands of people with hot drinks throughout the night and into the morning.

Nick Redford, Managing Director at Caterforce, said:

The event is an innovative way to raise awareness of the difficulties homeless people face. We were made aware of Sleep in the Park’s good work through JB Foods. To help support our member in its CSR efforts and an extremely worthy cause in Social Bite, we supplied essential items to help those who were challenged to spend an extremely cold night outside.”

Over 10,000 people turned out to spend the night outside across Edinburgh, Aberdeen, Glasgow and Dundee with the number believed to be the world’s biggest sleep-out event.

Charlotte Thompson of JB Foods said:

We supported Sleep in the Park last year, which was its first year, and it has already grown to become one of the world’s biggest events of its kind. It’s fantastic that this takes place across four cities in Scotland and is calling for an end to homelessness in our country. For this reason, it’s an easy decision for us to support the cause where we can.”

Volunteering at the event would not have been possible without the dedicated staff members that make up #TeamJB.  A total of 21 employees attended the sites in Glasgow and Edinburgh ready to help in any way they could, and they certainly did, so a big thank you goes out to all of you.
